PELHAM MANOR ESTATE
Pelham Manor, NY
The landscape design of this Pelham Manor property by Beresford Landscape aligns with the owners' extensive renovation of their 1926 home. The restrained planting design compliments the classic stone work of the home’s traditional architecture, while still providing opportunities for color and seasonal interest. Boxwood, and other evergreen shrubs are laid out as architectural elements used to frame other plantings. A more varied planting palette is used along the property’s perimeter. These garden spaces offer a greater mix of colors and textures, and provide more benefit to local bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Shadier areas on the property tend to forgo lawn in favor of stepping stone paths that cut through garden spaces. Shade tolerant perennials including Ferns, Solomon’s Seal, and Hosta transform these paths beneath mature trees into lush woodland trails.
Beresford Landscape Design completed the landscape masterplan and planting design, and plantings for the project. BLD also oversaw the realignment of the site’s existing driveway, and the removal of another portion of existing driveway BLD continues to provide landscape maintenance and gardening services at the property.
